Ikon Gallery is committed to providing accessibility for all visitors with visual, hearing and mobility impairments.
Parking
- Brindleyplace car park is located 200 metres from Ikon Gallery with disabled spaces on the ground floor.
- Orange and blue badge holders may park on the double yellow lines in Oozells Street, in accordance with badge guidelines. This is approximately 40 metres from Ikon's entrance.
Access to building and facilities
- Ikon has level access from the street.
The lift provides access to all facilities with embossed controls and
voice announcement.
- All public access doors are a minimum of 750mm wide. The gallery has automatic entrance, exit and lift doors.
- A staffed cloakroom facility is available for leaving awkward baggage and strollers.
- A wheelchair is available for use by visitors.
- Portable seating is available in the exhibition galleries.
- The reception desk and shop desk are accessible heights with knee hole access for wheelchairs
- Toilets on the ground and first floors are accessible by disabled visitors or visitors with limited dexterity.
- Evacuation chairs are available for emergency use.
- We welcome guide and hearing dogs.
- Baby changing facilities are available throughout the building.
Exhibitions provision for visitors with disabilities
- Ikon Gallery offers disabled visitors
full support facilities to ensure that the exhibition programme can be
appreciated by all.
- There is clear signage throughout with a minimum recommended text size for labels and signage.
- The Resource Room offers background to the exhibitions, with accessible computer terminals and bookshelves.
- Friendly, well-trained staff are available to provide assistance to visitors, or to offer tours and workshops.
- Induction loop facilities are sometimes available, please call to check before your visit.
- Large print text available on request at reception.
- Café facilities with level access and table service.
