Ikon hosts a major free symposium organised in conjunction with our exhibition This Could Happen To You: Ikon in the 1970s.
Taking place on Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 September, this event considers Birmingham as a changing city in the 1970s, the local art scene, party politics and Ikon's place within the national arts infrastructure.
Panellists include journalist Terry Grimley, founding partner of Associated Architects Walter Thomson, and artists Alexis Hunter and Jesse Bruton. A keynote paper is delivered by author and Guardian journalist Andy Beckett.
The weekend is constructed around five sessions and attendees can book for all or a few of these.
