Ikon welcomes people of all ages to a series of great participatory art workshops over the Bank Holiday. Visitors are invited to make a vast collaborative artwork using images they will take in the gallery and around Brindleyplace using digital cameras and camera phones, and existing images and found images from magazines and newspapers working with Birmingham-based artist Elizabeth Rowe.
Over the weekend, a collective of artists from Thailand and Japan, Soi Project, will also be running Fruit, a fruit stand set up outside Ikon, similar in style to those commonly found on street corners around Bangkok. Visitors are invited to make paper fruit from specially designed cut-outs which will then be added to the fruit display, and in return, will be given real fruit to take away.
Visitors are invited to stay for as little as ten minutes or as long as three hours. There is no need to book but children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
