Ikon has been chosen by the Prince’s Foundation for Children & the Arts to work with them in delivering their 2008/09 Start programme. Ikon is one of sixteen new arts partners ensuring access to the arts for children who currently receive little or no arts provision. Every participating child will attend at least two exhibitions as well as taking part in a series of workshops and follow up work in the classroom designed to bring their experience to life. Claire Turner, Ikon’s Curator of Education and Interpretation said “Ikon is delighted to be extending its innovative work with schools that will enable us to engage with over 500 primary school children who otherwise, may not have the opportunity to explore contemporary art."
