Touching upon notions of generosity in the advent to Christmas, Savage explored issues of consumerism, ownership and possession through his series of projects in November 2005. His quiet sequence of works seemingly aspired to the logic of the market economy but always fell short, undermining the usual circulation of goods and money.
As part of this series, Stolen White Goods involved the artist allegedly stealing 36 white items from six different shops, the total amounting to £46.41. These actions form the basis of this impeccably produced artist’s book which contains photographs of all 36 items.
