Paperback, full colour, W244 x H189mm

This catalogue was published alongside Julian Opie's exhibition at Ikon Gallery in 2001 which was the most comprehensive presentation of new work by the artist in recent years. Opie’s work exemplifies a refreshing openness and freedom in artistic approach, a compelling and unpretentious response to modern everyday life. He uses materials and techniques that have a distinctly non-art resonance, black outlines, bold colours and hard-edged shapes make his pieces resemble both public and civil signage and children's imagery. Whether it is for this reason or not, he has had works translated onto billboards and CD covers.
