Paperback, colour images, 64 pages, W250 x H295mm
This publication coincided with the first exhibition in the UK of work by Chinese artist Ding Yi at Ikon Gallery. The exhibition consisted of seventeen works, dating from 1989 and followed the development of the artist’s career since he became preoccupied with the repetition of simple cross motifs, ‘x’ and ‘+’, to create vast aesthetic grids.
This paperback catalogue contains a foreword by Ikon Director, Jonathan Watkins, an essay by Hou Hanru, a transcribed interview between the artist and Hans Ulrich Obrist, a list of works, a biography and full colour images of the work including installation shots. The publication also contains Chinese and English text.
