Hardback, black and white photography, 112 pages, 270 x 295mm
This beautifully produced catalogue accompanied Transition, Perry Roberts’ first solo exhibition in the UK for over ten years. Transition consisted of new work, commissioned by Ikon, made in response to the architecture in the city. Throughout the UK, architecture surviving from the 1960s and 70s has an ambivalent status - frequently despised and often with its future in question - poised somewhere between a state of decline and regeneration. Such buildings were the focus of the artist's aesthetic enquiry, raising questions concerning our experience of the built environment, reflecting and shaping the nature of everyday life.
This large format, hardback publication features a foreword by Ikon Director Jonathan Watkins, essays by architect Owen Luder and Ikon Curator Nigel Prince and black and white images of the work.
