Bejing-based artist Zhao Bandi photographs himself in various
situations with his toy panda. They have conversations, delivered with
deadpan humour, on subjects such as war, terrorism, the environment and
disease.
His practise encompasses photography, video and performance.
The panda – a recognizable symbol of China – becomes a spokesperson,
allowing the artist to tackle difficult issues and deliver challenging
messages with an appealing sense of humour. Features artist interview
