Published on the occasion of The Intimacy of Distance, Mike Marshall’s 2005-6 exhibition at Ikon, this comprehensive catalogue includes full colour still sequences from films made by the artist between 1998 and 2005. Marshall’s films are characterised by ‘a lack of dramatic moment, by a seemingly easy-going-ness, by an avoidance of limelight’, yet leave the viewer strangely affected and often impressed with a vivid sense of recollection. As well as older pieces and work from the Ikon exhibition, this catalogue includes still images from Birdcatcher, a short film commissioned by Film and Video Umbrella as part of Single Shot 2007.
