This publication coincided with Shanghai-based artist Yang Zhenzhong’s exhibition at Ikon Eastside. The artist’s work is characterised by a stringent logic, often focusing on details of everyday life to convey bigger truths. It reflects a smart apprehension of the media involved – photography, video, performance, sculpture and installation – brilliantly fusing subject matter with the means of representation.
This publication features an essay by Jonathan Watkins, colour images of the artist’s work including pieces not presented in the exhibition and a biography, with English and Chinese text.
