As both
artist and activist, Nancy Spero’s career spanned over fifty years. Her
continuous engagement with contemporary political, social and cultural concerns
is renowned.
She chronicled wars and apocalyptic violence as well as
articulating visions of ecstatic rebirth and the celebratory cycles of life
with particular engagement in the role of women in society.
Spero’s solo
exhibition at Ikon was the opening presentation at our then new venue in
Brindleyplace in 1998. Of the edition, number 1-99 are signed on the front,
while numbers 100-200 are unsigned. Prints are sold unframed.
