Julian Opie worked with the Ikon Gallery building as a whole, making an analogy between a journey through the exhibition into the outside world. The work included roadscape wall paintings and a new series of landscape, cityscape and seascape paintings, covering the galleries, the stairwell, the reception area, Oozells Square, Brindleyplace and a commissioned site-specific work in the glass lift shaft.
