Jenny Uglow, author, critic and historian, published Nature’s Engraver her labour of love and critically acclaimed biography of Thomas Bewick in 2004. A renowned and passionate speaker, Uglow discusses Bewick’s life in the Tyne Valley and Newcastle, showing how his vignettes of rural life spring from his personal experience. She also explores the development of his art, his passion for nature and the way that his brilliant observation of animals and birds set a new standard in the depiction of the natural world.
