Spill

24 August – 10 September 2006

At Ikon Eastside, Graham Gussin presented his new film Spill (2006), shot at night on the neglected scrubland of Mitcham Common, near to where the artist lives in south east London.

This landscape, with its graffitied buildings, is interrupted with glimpses of the metropolis shining tantalisingly in the distance. This is a seemingly unremarkable place, on the edge of the conurbation but soon it becomes clear that something extraordinary happens here. A fog silently creeps into view, becoming increasingly pervasive, drifting and swirling as it threatens to engulf everything in its wake.
